I have a Yamaha DD-50. I want to set it up so that when I play notes in the piano view of Cakewalk, it will play a drum sound instead off the DD-50 basic piano sound.

BTW, was the Yamaha DD 50 GM compatible ? is there any mode you should be in before playing multi timbral ? and the most important thing, does Yamaha DD 50 have any drums sound ?

Gee, I get little confuse when Tym99 said "DD 50 basic piano sound". Somehow I was thinking about Roland D 50 :D. So it's Drum Machine. Then how come it has piano sound initially ? May be it's not your Yamaha DD 50's sound, but your internal synth's (soundfonts?) sound you heard. Therefore, you need to check your MIDI connection. Did you assign the Yamaha DD50 matching the output port of the MIDI track in Cakewalk ? You better post what Cakewalk do you use, and how did you make your MIDI setup.

No it wasn't my internal synth. The DD50 has some kinda default sounds in it for the demo songs it has built in. The problem was as stated above... it was not on channel 10.

Thanx for your input guys.

Yeah, most times that's the problems with MIDI drumsounds...

Glad you sorted it out! :)
