what does it affect whan using an un-balanced cable reg 1\4 inch out of a balanced 1\4 inch jack...just a slight amount more noise?? also the rec out 1/4 jacks that are on the yamaha ..are pretty much a lower quality right?? than the 1./4 balanced and xlr mains and group outs.....and inserts... anyway i was just gettin straight in my head of what my best options for connecting are...
I am thinking of keeping mains balanced from mixer to the 2 balanced connections on the card 1 and 2 ... group 1/2 outs from the mixer to rca ins 3 and 4 on card...
and inserts to other rca inputs.... i will use all these for micing drums with 7 mics..then use the balanced inputs for everything else that requires only 1 or 2 inputs similtaneously... question..? does it matter if i use an
unbalanced cable to attach to the balanced group outs
from the mixer if im going to an unbalanced input on the 1010lt..?anyway thanks

No .... It won't matter any to use un-balanced cables, so long as the lengths are under 20 feet.
Also there is no real difference in sonic quality between balanced and un-balanced. Same holds true for the rec out jacks. They are just an un-balanced output.

The Rec Outs are not lower quality as such, they're just a lower level output at -10db.

The main and group outs are +4db and the inserts are 0db.

I think you got your connections worked out pretty well. Just remember the 2 xlr ins on the delta have preamps so watch the gain on those.

Like crankz says, there's no issue with unbalanced as long as your cables aren't too long and you're not recording underneath 11kV power lines. In fact Bob Katz recommends unbalanced over balanced in a nice electromagnetically quiet environment

cool ...thanks for the help......on the xlrs ill just have to move jumpers to make it a line level..and shouldnt i ajust my card input levels to correspond to each different output level.......?

1010lt mic pres

anyone else have thwe problem of the 1010lt's mic pres being too hot even after moving jumpers?? there doesnt seem to be much levelcontrol there ,thats why i am thinking of running it as a line level input through the yamaha16/4
..
