I had the MD4S (4-tracks instead of 8), but I think you'd have to get an 8 input interface (such as the M-Audio Delta 44), plug the 8 direct outs of the MD8 into the inputs of the 1010 and then setup your PC to record all 8 tracks together (using N-Track/Sonar/Cubase/etc...). There WILL be quality loss, but hopefully it won't be too bad.
If you do tracks individually, it will be hard to line up the tracks.
I'm not sure if there is a way to take the minidisc and have your PC recognize it. I think there may have been a data minidisc drive for PCs at one time, but I'm not sure if there will be any software to take the ATRAC data off of the disc.
Sorry I couldn't fully answer your question.
My MD4S was a good unit, but my PC setup (using a Delta 44) is sooooo much better in MANY ways. The only advantage the MD4S was that it had real faders and record/playback buttons. But DATA minidiscs were expensive, no easy way to get them on the PC, ATRAC compression (which wasn't too bad, better than mp3, but lossy compression nonetheless)
Good luck!
