I've got an older XT (not a 20 or blackface), very low hours on the drum, operates really well...But the software version is 1.06, and I've read where the unit should be upgraded to ver. 4.06.
2 questions; What are the reasons that the XT software should be updated if it's running fine? Where on the planet can this still be done? I've been to the Alesis site and they don't mention updates or how they are installed (though I assume that the unit has to be sent out for this service).
