I recently had what I believe is hardrive failure on an HP Pavillion that is well past warranty. This computer had it's recovery disk on a hidden partition.I'd like to get a new hardrive for this and get a recovery disk.Hewlet Packard no longer provides these.I discovered a site called Restoredisk.com who claim the can sell me one.I asked them if it will work on my model # and they replied w/this:

"Yes, it is the hp oem version of xp that is sent with their custom build to order pcs. Any drivers that are not automatically installed can be downloaded from their website."

The disks are $35 or so.Does this sound legit?I still have the sticker with codes on the side of the computer.
Has anyone ever had to resort to something like this?

If you are looking to buy a new hard disk Western Digital drives comes with a program that will copy over the data from your old hard disk. I worked great for me but I had to reinstall 2 programs...

Just a thought

hiren's boot cd 6.0 can recover anything, even deleted partition tables ... and it's free as far as I know
