XLR Snake and Strain Relief

I'm looking into building some short snakes with XLR and TRS connectors to go between various mixer outputs/inputs and my patch bay.

The problem I've run into is that my XLR and TRS connectors come with strain relief collars designed for a typical single channel mic cable diameter. I plan on using 12 channel snake cable, and each channel has a very small diameter.

I've been looking for connectors designed for small diameter cable but haven't found anything yet, at least not in the Markertek catalog.

Do such connectors exist? Have you folks figured out a slick workaround? I'm about ready to just tie a knot in the end of each snake channel and call it good.

scince the cable in the multi cable you speak of is 22awg and usually zfolded and has a small dia jacket the only connectors you can really use are the neutrik 1/4" trs and m/f xlr. They have a strain relief that works fine on process wire and things of this nature . If you can't find them go to www.whirlwindusa.com and they have them there to look at. + whirlwind has the xlr ends made for them with thier logo and they end up being cheaper than those straight from Neutrik. The Xlr # are WI3m and WI3f and should sell for around 3 to 4 $ ea.
I use like a hundred of these things a day. Markertek should have them as well but they usually run on the more expensive side.

If you don't mind sacrificing a few feet of mic cable, cut it in 6" pieces and pull the wires and foil out. Cut the empty jacket into 1" or so pieces and slip them over the ends of your individual snake channels. Works with any connector, as it makes the cable standard diameter at the end. The jacket from foil shield cable is generally a little smaller than the jacket from braided shield cable. Use whichever fits better.

Like PM said, the Neutriks work with just about everything.

I'll try it when I get home.

LOL I've done the same thing to snake repairs before.
I'd also use a piece of shrink wrap over the whole thing too.

A little glue will make the magic work better with Switchcraft XLRs.
