Unpossible!
Just wondering if anyone does this? It seem to sound pretty good to me, especially if you are just using a three mic technique.

I mostly put up X-Y pair (Earthworks SR-71s). Personally, I don't like wide spaced overheads. To me it sounds too wide.

I've been using ORTF a lot lately and I prefer it.... it creates a very nice image - and if it's too wide for the context, the signal can allways be panned in a little (or use straight XY!)

Where's the sound bite of that drummer who can't keep time? :)

They are the worst. It's good for a laugh though. :D

ORTF is more or less a x/y spread out a bit, right?
More or less... more, actually... 110 degrees instead of 90, and 17 cm space between capsules (the idea behind ORTF is simulating the way human ears pick-up sound, hence the 17cm/110 deg. spread!)
