So my current situation is that I had to give back some gear I had on loan from a friend and I need a decent mic pre at home cause I'm in the middle of a project. No hard feelings toward my friend, he was nice enough to loan me a Red7 while he was not using it! But I'm in need of a preamp now.
What I have currently is 3 Gibson SG's, so I am able to part with one of them. I do not want to go through the hassle of selling and buying on Ebay, they get too much of my money as it is. So I'm hoping someone out there may be interested in a shot at a real live Gibson SG. The offer is a Gibson SG Special faded. See pictures below. You may ask anyone who has ever bought one of my guitars as to my ability to find good ones and make great upgrade decisions with them. This one is special for a few reasons. First of all, it got extra finish at the factory, so it's not nearly as faded or rough as many of them I see around. I have a friend who works in the shop at Gibson in Nashville and he tells me that there are a few that do get an extra thick coat and it ends up looking like this one, but it's a rarity. It also has a very pretty striped rosewood fretboard. I have added the Gibson 490/498 nickel covered pickups just like the SG Standard, I have also added Mallory .022 caps for a nicer tone when you roll back the treble. I bought an engraved "SG" trussrod cover cause Gibson sends Specials with blank black plastic ones (yuk). Lastly, this is a brand new 2005 model, made on January 8, 2005. So it's pretty much factory fresh. I won't say "like new" cause it's alot better than new, looks and sound wise since I did the upgrades to it, see pics. Comes with papers, reciepts, and Gibson deluxe Gigbag.
What I am looking for are mic pres, channel strips, or multi pre units....just depending on what you may have. I am willing to work some money into the deal on either side if you have something I'm very interested in thats higher or lower. What I am most interested in are pres that are warm and fat, not really a pure clean sound. So transformer based more than anything transformerless. That's my basic outline, so anything that may fit in there would be of interest.
If you are interested in a trade and have something to deal with, shoot me an email mike_gossett@homerecording.net . I'm not in a position where I HAVE to get rid of this guitar, but with an SG Standard and an SG Classic, I don't HAVE to keep it either. So just seeing if someone may be intrigued by the offer.
Thanks!
