Don't stare at the eye.
Specifically and TNC ACM-4. That's the rectangular jobber from the buy before the one that's wrapping up now. That one would be my preference, but I'll entertain others should you have one to sell. :)

The ACM-4 from that buy I think was the gem of the ribbons. A bit rolled, but a smooth workhorse.

Shhhh...if the rest of 'em figure that out, they won't sell theirs to me!

Seriously, you're right. And I'm really loving mine on guitar cabs. There are couple out there (Avant CR-14 is one) that are certainly built in the same case, and as such they're probably from the very same factory. Just can't be sure if they're the same guts. They probably are.

If no one coughs one up, I'll go that route...

I bought my CR14 a few years back from the other forums group buy. I have had great luck with it. What we were told at that time was that the US distributor for Avantone was checking them out and discarding two out of every three and only selling the best. I don't know if that was true (No reason not to believe it though.) and I don't know if they still use that practice or not. I can say that my CR14 on fiddle, flute, or guitar cabs is quite a workhorse for the $$$. It's not for everything but it does what it does well. Kind of a dark and brooding sort of sound. I once used it on vox when I had a specialty song in a minor key. It was wonderful. If you have to go with the CR14 I don't think you will regret it if your experience is the same as mine. Good luck.

Going once...

Going twice...

No ACM-3's or 4's gathering dust out there?
