Would you sell it or keep it?

I have a 1964 50w fender bassman amp and 2x12 cabnet. Still has the blonde covering on both. I replaced the speakers with ventage 30's. It's VERY LOUD.

The old amp is HEAVY and I seldom use it anymore, (I can get the same tone from my J-Station) but I know I'll never own another one. Besides, just about every guitar player that see's it flips! It's just so cool and it's such a good match with my 64 Gibson firebird.

I've seen them sell on ebay for about 10 times what I paid for it. What would you do, sell it or keep it?

I personally would keep it. I would cherish much less expensive vintage amps around, let alone a blonde 64 bassman. There's a reason they're selling for so much on Ebay.

It's a keeper!

Unless you're pressed for money or need more space... why get rid of it?

In time (after about 5 minutes) you would regret it if you sold it. Unless you absolutley need the money , keep it.

I REALLY don't believe that you would get the same tone from yer Jstation. And even if you do. Keep it.

Okay, everyone seems to agree, I'll keep it.:D

But, I really can get the same tone outta my J-Station. Maybe I'll record the same lick twice. Once on the old Fender and once on the JS and all of you can fight about which one is real.

Yeah, bring it over here, and we'll throw in my Pod pro into the mix, then post all three. Give me a chance to play with my new Delta 1010. Besides, you can bring me that CD you were gonna burn for me

Okay, I'm doing something with the kid tonight, but I think I can make it over tomorrow after work.

NO, NO, NO...

That's a piece of crap amp.

But, I'm feeling generous today.

I'll take it off your hands for $25.

Or I'll trade you a duck for it.:D

(happy jammin')

Peace <><

while Im one of the biggest fan of the Johnson J-Station around, an mp3 of it against an mp3 of the mic'ed amp wont mean much....unless you are a great engineer and can capture the exact sound and feel of what is coming out of the amp, it is a bad way to compare....we'd have to be in the room with the amp to accurately compare it......

so name the date and buy the beer and Ill bring the ho's and we'll all come over.....

That mic thing is Bdgr's aera and I don't know what he's thinking about doing. But, I can tell you that he's got some good f***ing stuff to work with.

I was thinking we could put the amp in his vocal booth so there wouldn't be any strange echos from his VERY cluttered garage.

Anyway, I'm going over there tomorrow and we're gonna lay it down and post it (most likely at www. texasblues.net). I think it'll be a lot of fun to see who guesses right or wrong.

Hey!

Its not a garage anymore...it just used to be a garage. Its now totally sheetrocked in, airconditioned and everything...

And that clutter is not clutter. Its carfully placed acuostic material, brilliantly designed to both break up sound, and look exactly like piles of junk..really..to fool thieves...not buying it? oh well...I tried.

Yeah, we'll probably stick in the vocal booth, and we'll experiment around with a couple of differant ways of micing it.

And as for it being a good comparison, well, it comes down to usage. You see, me and Firebird are pretty much done with playing live. That last band we were in soured me on it for while....Sheesh.... So most of what he uses the Bassman for is recording stuff. So even if the Bassman sounds better live, if he cant get that sound on a recording, its not much use to him. So what the test really is, I guess, is which sounds best, a recording of the bassman, or a recording of the pod pro or jstation. I will try and post the resulting recordings on my page as soon as we are done.
