i've been having some problems with my free version of cubase VST and have been considering switching to a new program, and i must say that the price is pretty right for acid.

so you guys are the experts, how is it?

i'm mainly a lo-fi indy rocker, stereolab, flaming lips, pavement, radiohead kind of guy. i'd be wanting to record alot of guitar and bass and live drums, but also want to do a lot of (i'm very new to it) midi drum loops and what not

i have a creative internal audigy platinum and a pretty decent machine to run it on.

would you guys recommend it?

Acid is not a multi-track recorder, it will record but only one stereo track at a time.

You'll only know if it's right for you by trying it. You can demo it for free. Just go to http://mediasoftware.sonypictures.com/download/step1.asp?catid=1

Personally, I love ACID. I've been using it to record a friend for his upcoming CD release. We're using real guitars and basses, and a mix of drum loops and real drums. True, you can only record one track (either mono or stereo) at a time, so it's not a true multitracker, but if you're doing it all yourself this shouldn't be an issue.
