Would appreciate feedback on an original song!

Moved to the MP3 clinic where it should get more attention.

I gave a quick listen. It sounds to me like the vocals are sitting on top of the mix and not blended in. Like they were tracked over top of a pre-made backing track. If that's in fact what you did, you can only work with what you got. But if you tracked each instrument separately and then vocals, you've got to get everything into the same space, like it was all recorded at the same time, in the same room.
 
Backing track is very nice. I agree with Chili that the vocal doesn't feel like it's in the mix. It's also getting masked by the backing track. I'm not able to hear all the lyrics easily.
 
I know that the mixing isn't great (hence why I said "besides the subpar mixing and mastering") but was looking more for feedback on the song itself... So I'm not sure if it belongs in this thread...
 
Suggestion on composition are fine here. Put up a mix that highlights the vocal, with every word of the lyric intelligible. I'll give it a listen and my thoughts on the composition.
