Unpossible!
This is a song I am kinda getting ear-burnt on. Anybody want to throw some critiques out?

Thanks. :D

edit - it's somewhat heavy music.........

Not my type of music but wow it sounds really good. Everything sounds tight and well played, guitar tones sound great also. What kind of guitars/amps were used?

The guitars were a Gibson Orville and an LTD LP. The amps were both Line 6 direct in and a Randall RM20B with a Grail module. Blended the Randall at 60% to 40% Line 6.

Thanks for listening!

Some suggestions:

Overall, it's just about there. But, the guitar is fighting with the vocals. I think the vox should come up. Also, I would put a double vocal track on the chorus section, and/or some light backing tracks. I would also consider touching up that section with some keys or a clean guitar very lightly in the mix to provide some differentiation and ambience.

Ok. I figured I'd try a listening exercise so I went to Disturbed's web site to find sound samples to compare this to. (That's what this band reminds me of...)

Your file sounds better and more clear than the stuff on their site, in my opinion.

I don't have the experience or skill to judge anyone's mixes, but I think this sounds really good. Everything is clear and seems to be balanced well.

Wow, vox louder. I already fought the band to get them this loud. You may be right though. I will look into your other suggestions. Thanks!

OK, you just made my day. No, you made my entire month at least! :D

The guitarists are disturbed fans, and I LOVE Andy Wallace's Disturbed stuff. I don't think I'm anywhere near that league, but just being mentioned in the same breath is GREAT!

Thanks! :D

this is hot shit. i don't go for the screamed vocals, i prefer melodic vocals with music as heavy as this. But despite what i go for this is very good. i can hear most of the lyrics so i wouldn't put them up too much.

but i really like this tune and i don't normally go for the vocals with screaming in them.

Nice song. I think over all I'd be pretty happy with it.

If you're looking for some nit picks, I lemme listen to it again.

Seems a little on the middy side. Maybe pull a little low end out of the guitars, this might make more room for the vox. I think they are loud enough, but just need a little more room. I like your drum sound, the tom fills are a little loud at times. Again, they could just be a tad middy. You know, maybe try a *slight* scoop on the main buss to clear things up a tad.

Over all though I like the job.

I'm not digging the toms at the start. Maybe cut more low mids out of them and bring them down a tad.
Snare seems to take up a bit too much space. Try less boost on the lows or a cut in the low mids so it lets the rest of the mix breath a bit more.
Guitars are nice at the choruses!! What was your recording set up for them?

I think the mix could do with a compressor on the master out to bring it together more.

Nice one man. Would be great to do a mix comp with this song. :)
Good mix and not much that stands out bad to me.

I decided to give this a quick master to clean things up a little.

Hope you like. :)

ps. I noticed a dodgy guitar at 1:05 in the right channel. Might need a time stretch or edit to make the guitar come in at the right time.
I also noticed the low end constant sound that starts around 3:00.
Sounds like a sine wave or something. Its maybe a bit much.

Not my fav metal subgenre but you've done really well with this - clarity really works well with this mix.
Nice work.

Wow...put this one to bed. It's done! Half the music I pay for the privilege listening to doesn't sound this good. Great job...

Compliments to the band for playing tight and composing nice. :)

The mix sounds really cool. Wouldn't know it from the "big studio" mix.

Sounds Awesome

Dude, you definately have got it down...that sounds so sweet!!

Hi NL5

Merry X-MAS !

Pretty nice sound, great recording again !!!!

You just got a little problem with the 200Hz area and not enough of 2000-4000Hz. I think the guitars could need some highs around there and maybe get rid of the low end (120-200) a bit. Could also be the bassguitar that has too much in this area ??
Drums are very nice. I feel like the Snare is a bit muddy, maybe cut a bit at 300-400Hz maybe ? Cymbals could need some more zzzzzzisshsh :-)

A little master from me.
up in about 30min

Frickin' heavy. I have no suggestions or criticism....I wish I could put something this cool together. It's all there. I usually don't like the vocals in this type of music either, but this guy is giving me some melody and never gets annoying. I love this.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the comments.

There are a few minor tweaks that need to be done, then I'll post a final "pre-master" track. One thing that has been changed is the "F**k it", they want this to be able to be played on our "locals only" radio show. We tried reversing it, and now it sounds like he says "psycho" - kinda funny. :D
