in my quest for building a project studio that can sound like the big boys, i've now decided to get a wooden music stand. I've been putting left over auralex 2" foam on the metal music stand i have now, because I swear it reverberates while i'm recording vocalist.

i'd also like to find a light for the music stand that is battery operated. i found one at www.misterstandman.com

Musicians Friend has a wooden stand for 39.99 and samash has an all wood stand for 99.99. There is also a battery operated clip-on light for 11.95 at samash.

there are also stands that don't use a solid metal desk, but have a wire mesh or else holes punched out so you get less stand resonance.

I played a gig a couple of months ago, and they had a slew of the coolest stands I've ever used. They were solid plastic with a built-in non-fluorescent light on top, and a small misc tray at the bottom - good sized, very solid & sturdy, and I'm sure that they wouldn't reverberate.

i'm going to buy some Birch wood and make a stand for myself.

i'm going to engrave my studio name (Computer Recordings of Sound) in to the stand so that the stand matches my custom built workstation.

since i am the master procrastinator when it comes to doing anything resembling manly work, it will get done in about a month.

did i mention i built my workstation myself also? that 2 took months. 1 month of talking about doing it. 2 weeks of drawing up the plans, and 2 weeks to build it.

not pretty but efficient.

Nice digs -sliding keyboard tray to boot. Plywood is a wonderful thing... I bet if you stained that, it'd look pretty nice. Might want to angle the M1's in a bit more for the equilateral triangle with your ears.

It took me well over a month just to build my 12 space rack/mixer stand - I've been honing my procrastination skills too :)

After seeing your setup I realize that my studio is missing something....

*running out to the store for a PS2 for the studio* :D

That's a nice touch!
