I hate to gloat, but this hardly ever happens to me.

A month and a half ago I was in a pawn shop and spotted a Sennheiser MD441 marked at $200. Unfortunately, I had just made a bunch of purchases and my wife had reached a saturation point. I think her words were, "If you buy one more thing I am out of here." I had to let it go. I escaped the dog house eventually, and called the pawn shop up. They told me they didn't have anything like that. On a hunch I went by there today to check if they made a mistake. Sure enough, it was still there, and they took $175 for it. I checked it out, and it sounds fine.

Let's see, MD441's look just like Behringer B1's except they say Nady on them? No, that's a joke.

It is all black, and it has the brilliance switch and the bass rolloff switch. I think that means that it is a MD441 rather than a MD451, right?

Great score.

But I bet you could have gotten it for $150:D

I am sure you are right on the $150 price. I am not a very good haggler. I tend to give up after a dealer brings the price down once.

MD441 Score...Damn good job!

Yep, the 441 is quite the microphone! I've found it to be quite incredible with just about any application, bass, acoustic and/or electric guitar (cabinet), vocals, horns, percussion you name it it will do the trick. They have a very low output though so crank up your mic preamp while you're recording. Question for anyone, is the MD541 ALL BLACK including the metal parts? I've never seen one---Only the silver/black MD441-U version.

Then I think what you scored was a MD541 because they're all black from what I've understood...it's basically the same microphone though electronically speaking. Can you post a picture of it?

Why is it easier to find cool German mics in American junk shops than in British ones. We're at least two thousand miles closer to them than you are, for crying out loud

If I scoured my local second hand shops the best I could probably hope to find are a few battered 58s and a handful of Karaoke mics :(

VAT.
We don't have that here.

I have only ever seen a couple of these surface on Ebay Aust., and they went for the equivalent of over $300US, so I ended up buying from Ebay US and even with the shipping I only paid around $250US.

This mic gives the greatest results off a Marshall quad.............absolutely fantastic. I now wish I had bought the second 441 the guy was selling at the time.
