so i'm going to be tearing down the old studio in my basement.. and i'll have ALOT of insulation (the green fibre glass stuff..)

I was wondering if fiberglass insulation will do any good if I make panels outta them (or possibly bass traps?)

I have pretty much no budjet at the moment so i'm hoping it'll be better than nothing..

Well, I'm assuming you're going to be building new walls? So, you'll need insulation for that too?

In any case, you can certainly use the fluffy wall insulation (never seen green fiberglass - seen greenish mineral wool). If you get enough thickness for the bass absorbers, it can help to offset the lack of density a bit.

You can also compress it to gain density similar to an OC703 - you'll need to compress it about 4:1 if its standard fluffy inwall fiberglass that's normally about .7 lb/cu ft.

Build a wooden frame, cover it with cloth, lay the insulation in it, cover the other side with cloth, them hang it over your drum location. makes a darn good cloud to help tame high frequencies from cymbals. Just be sure to cover both sides, loose fiber glass is quite an irritant.
