I am considering purchasing this drum mic package ( Nady four dm70's one dm80' and and two cm88's.) It is cheap (around $150 for the package) Just wondering if anybody has heard them/uses them and what you think. I will be using them for studio work. My sound room is an 8 foot by 12 foot room somewhat soundprofed by me. I am fairly new to recording, just trying to learn all I can.
Also if you have any drum mic suggestions that would be appreciated. I am looking to mic my bass, snare, 3 toms, and 2 overheads. I would like to spend at the most $300. Thanks for your thoughts!

They work.. they're not amazing.

They will work fine for you. It might be better to start off with better mics.

I have used the DM70's and DM80's, this song was recorded using them on bottom snare, toms and kick.

I have upgraded since to the E/V ND468's and love them, big difference but yeah these worked.

Hope this helps!

Here are two things that you could do.
1) Go to victorlitz and order 2 packages of the PMP421C. When you do this you'll have two overheads, 4 tom/snare mics, and two bass mics. How would the second bass mic help you? Sell it to your bassist, or better yet put it on your low tom. Depending on how low you may tune, it may pick up that drum better than one of the smaller mics would. Price 300$

2) Since you're already looking at Nady CM-88's, pick up two of these from Musiciansfriend for 37$ each. (Product #277048) Go to 8thstreet and grab the PMP54 for 200$. The PIMP54 contains a bass mic and 4 tom/snare mics. Total price 274$ + shipping.

Musiciansfriend may carry the PIMP54 but I don't see it in the online catalogue.

3) Okay, I lied. There are 3 suggestions here. Get the 5 piece CAD set from musiciansfriend (Product #270776) for 220$ and pick up a Shure SM57 for 70 or 80$, for your snare. You'll have a bass mic, 3 tom/snare mics, 2 overheads, and an SM57 for your snare. Price 290$ - 300$.

4) Darnit, here's another option, if you want a piece of the Nady name. CAD set (Product #270777) from musiciansfriend + the Nady condensers mentioned above, plus an SM57. This gives you the same as option 3, except for the condensers are Nady and not CAD. (150 + 74 + 70 or 80 = 294 or 304$)

Oh, by the way, I'm a CAD fan.

And the CAD PMP packages usually come with free mic-to-tom mounts. (DSM-1) Don't trust me though -- make sure before you order.

Too much coffee I've had.

Be sure you have phantom power for the condensers.
