Hi,

I just installed Sonar 2.0 and noticed that it has a pretty cool audio/loop sequence functions. In function wise, if I got Sonar 2.0 .. Do I still need to buy Acid Pro ? Note that I did not have a chance to play with Acid Pro at the moment. But I heard lots of nice thing about it !.

I think they both have their strengths.

Sonar 2.0 does provide support for ACIDized loops and tempo stretching similar to what ACID does.

If you have a bottomless supply of money, then get both. From my perspective, ACID is more seamless to use as a Groove creation tool than Sonar, whilst Sonar is much more flexible as a total recording solution.

I would recommend grabbing the ACID demo and playing with it. See what you like best and then see how many roubles are left in the piggy bank.......

Personally, I love the control of ACID - being able to click on a clip and then change it's pitch by hitting PG-UP or PG-DN is MUCH simpler and more efficient than the Sonar method of creating markers with pitch information attached.

Qwerty,

Thanks for your input.

I Played Acid Pro from my friend's PC and I found that each track can only contain one wav file (loop). But for Sonar, you can put various wav files in any single track. Don't know if this is a benefit or not.

Yeah - I think this is hard-coded..........

BTW - if you can find a way in Sonar to do this, I would like to hear it!

- Using ACID, I can take say the guitar loop at bar 5 and shift it up to a C
- I then take the bass loop at bar 5 and tell it to play in F - thereby creating a harmony.

I can't see a way to do this in Sonar as all pitch information seems generic, ie. tied to the marker's pitch information. The end result of this is that I can't do the same key change at bar 5 in Sonar that I would have done in ACID.

Make sense?

A Die-Hard ACID freak

I use Acid 4, and I swear by it. But I have never tried to loop in Sonar, so I have no basis for comparison.
