stupid noob here....I just purchased a smooth computer and am beginning the process of getting everything set up

I am just now getting cable internet and was wondering if there is a loss of performance in using those wireless routers----anybody know anything about these things?

They work just fine - otherwise, they wouldn't be selling like hotcakes...

802.11b gives you roughly the same throughput as 10baseT (10Mbits/sec)
