Wireless Headphones?

I hit the record button, grab my (corded) head phones, and run to my drums trying not to trip over the cord or wrap it around a cymbal stand as I make the turn, grab my sticks, and.............................?.................nothing! Another headphone cable bites the dust!
Seems I'm not having much luck preventing these damned cables from twisting themselves to silence and death.
Is there a decent wireless headset on the market that provides good strong signal? I'm only talking a distance of 12 feet from source to drums.

I have had a client use wireless cans in my studio to do some vocals. She liked them because they had their own volume control. I ran them through my Peavey can plug in which uses 1/4 in plugs.

The cans I'm speaking of are made by Koss and the quality is not the best but, I've used them when I'm working at the synth doing some stuff and with NO WIRES, it's not too bad and very comfortable.

I've been eyeballing some wireless cans that run at the 900 mghz spectrum and I think a set of those would work just fine.

Suggest you check catalogs and units. Sennhsr makes them, as well as RCA, Sony, and a couple of others.

Don't take the chance of spilling your Coors when your foot gets tangled in the can wires.

If you record with a computer you can do what i do. Get an infared remote for it and set it up so you can start recording from acoss the room instead of hitting record and then moving across the room. If anyone is interested I can tell you about all the hardware and software needed, all in all it shouldn't cost more than $25.

Hit me, Carter...I gotta do something! I had thought of IR some time ago, but never really got into checking it out. If it can record, stop, pause, ect., I've got to have it. I tried a cheap set or wireless phones and the signal was so bad they were unusable.

well, the first thing you need is a remote. I prefer the Packard Bell variety because it is the one the software I use was designed around. The best place I know of to get them is Ebay (shudder). its actually not that bad, you can usually score them for under $10, just search for "packard bell remote". The remote might come with some software, if it does then throw that shit out , it will only work with a packard bell computer and if you are serious about recording on PCs then you probablly dont have one. The software you need is the WIRC (windows infared remote controll), it is shareware and available at www.zorxx.com. It is only $10 to register, the unregistered version limits you to 100 button pushes before you have to start the program again. The software lets you program any button on the remote to act as any button on the keyboard, it even controlls winamp and your mouse. If the only thing you plan on using it for is pushing record and stop you could probablly get away with using the unregistered free version and just reload the program after you use it 100 times, but I really sugest you get the whole thing, its a great, cheap program and you'll really love it if you use winamp. Thanks Carter. I'll see what I can find. Ebay doesn't bother me a bit. And ten bucks for usable software makes more sense than having to play russian roulette with the 100th push! I guess I'll also want to see if the the software I'm using (Ntrack) works with macros for transport controls. You don't know any model numbers for this PB interface, do you?
