ok... this is quite off on a tangent to what i've been concerned with for the past few weeks, but how can one ignore all this juicy tech talk ? = ]

I've been reading over the forum after searching for 'delta44' as i plan to buy this thang... and the general consensus is that anything bar, windows xp is shunned as 'not so good' or 'doesn't support wdm drivers.'

Ok, that's great... but i've had problems with winxp and have used NT to record for ages now. Xp seems to have a very volitile multimedia environment, everything sounds like it's cranked and maxed out and i do, yes, i do love my computer and all its BITS. On top of this, when recording with cakewalk 9, and using a SbLive the latency was horribley high. I don't know a figure, but it'd lag by maybe a little under half a second.

i'm running 256ddr ram, amdxp1800, 40 gig 7500rpm ide hdd...

would this be my problem ? not enough ram ?

if anyone has a few tweaking options or indeed another o/s which is better, let me know, because i feel like i'm going crazy being the only one who dislikes xp for recording.

and no... i have NO EYE CANDY TURNED ON... = ]

Thanks a million,
Rory
