Windows 2000 and "System Performance"

I've read in the Tascam PC Optimization that you should set Windows 2000 to "Optimize performance for Background Services", since ASIO is run as a background service (errrr)...

Would this apply to WDM-drivers aswell, or should I set System Performance to "Applications"?
