Win 7 tweaks

Kinda old news, these types of lists have been around since Windows 2000. Difference now is that most of these suggestions don't yield any real world benefit. In other words - generally a waste of time to implement. There's been tests run that debunk these "kill this list of processes and gain 3 inches on your e-penis" websites. Not only did those tests demonstrate there was no performance gain, in some cases it killed one or more processes that prevented some regularly used windows features from working, resulting in having to go back and re-enable one or more turned off services.

If your computer is struggling it isn't because of a mysterious service/process running in the background (aside from Windows Search in Vista, but who uses that POS operating system?). Processing power comes from hardware, so there's no trick to get around having to plunk down some coin for the performance you need.

More likely, if there's legitimate slowness on your computer, it's probably the result of some form of malware / infection.

I agree with Pinky. As an IT guy I rarely see a "slow" computer that wasn't caused by the user. There will be some exceptions to that but not that many.

As for the optimize stuff, there are some useful things. Like changing power settings to stop turning off USB and hard drive. For the most part now though and current machine that is being built for audio should have more than enough to handle it. Between increased processing power and solid state hard drives you can really do just fine without throwing in a ton of cash.
