Are you going to watch the MTV Video Music Awards tonight?

Shit, no. I get enough R&B, hip-hop, and rap at home when the kids are listening to music.

I will tape it then fast forward thru 90% of it. Usually 1 or 2 things happen which are entertaining.

There hasn't been a music video worth watching in a good 10 years. Lets see, the videos will either be a bunch of ghetto ass trash speaking ebonics or a bunch of 20-somethings who haven't figured out that they all look as gay as the 80's new wave bands...only more so because I think most of them actually are. AFI anyone? Can you say peter puffer? I haven't seen anyone who looks like they take it in the @$$ as much as that guy. The psuedo-gay hairstyle with white face paint has turned most of them into faggots. Oh and back to the "hip hop" artists....whatever happend to all the shootings. Some of these guys need to get shot to legitimize their careers becuase just putting on a side ways baseball cap, leaving on the tag, wearing some oversized jersey with matching oversized pants, and pristine white shoes doesn't scream "thug" like it used to. No, no it screams "POSER!"

Do any of you actually watch any video's ??? There's a ton of great videos, try recording MTV, MTV2, VH1 or Fuse during the night, you'll see lots of great music. It's way to cliche to say there's no good music today, isn't that what your parents told you 20 years ago ?

Like when some idiot throws his bass up in the air and loses it in the lights, and it comes down and whacks him right between the eyes? Now, THAT'S good television, I'll tell you what!

Hell no. I can't even remember the last time that I turned the channel to MTV. Kids today and their music. Bleh.

I'm not even into music videos any more. I was into them when I was in high school but now I could give a crap. I'll take a good song over a good video any day of the week. I get exposed to plenty of new music that I actually respect via the internet nowadays. The kids can keep their videos.

Music awards on MTV? That's like hosting the espy's on WE. Makes no sense I tell you. Now if they had "reality awards" MTV should definately host it.

Several years ago during one of the musical interludes between awards. It might've been Nirvana. It was pretty damn funny; it looked like the guy had worked on this move but hadn't considered the really bright lighting they have to use for video.

During the Big Ending of their song, he hurls his bass straight up in the air and stands there with his arms outstretched waiting for it... and is still standing there squinting into the lights as it comes down between his hands and smacks him in the forehead. I thought I would bust a gut. I'm glad the guy wasn't seriously injured, or I'd have had to feel bad about laughing.

Yah that was Nirvana. The funny thing was that Kurt didn't notice it happen, he just saw the bassist staggering off stage. So he runs up to him, and boots him in the ass.

That was a pretty fucking funny performance. They started 'Lithium' with the intro to 'Rape Me', and all the MTV execs were sweating like motherfuckers over it. They were just about to cut to a commercial when they finally broke into Lithium.
