I recently received the Boss BR8 as a gift, and I am having a GREAT time composing and laying down my own tunes on tracks. Thing is, I am kind of going at this blind. While the instructions are clear, they don't explain EVERYTHING, you know?
Really, I don't understand what happens when you toggle things on the EQ (such as gain and frequencies), so I'd like to know someone who uses the same machine and can help me out. Plus I want to record this stuff onto CD sometime soon. If you can help me out, contact me please! and look for me on IM, screen name Soup7373.

Thanks & Peace,

Andrew J

Hey Andrew,
You sound the way I did a year ago. I'm sure I can help you find your way around the Br8 so you can email me any questions to Chanale77@aol.com or im me at Chanale77. Oh yeah,,I WISH people would give me such presents!!
Take care
Shana

Yo Soup.. that's why we're all here.. to help each other out. The amount of info you can learn here will certainly fill in the blanks the owners manual didn't cover. If ya ever run into something you can't get answered, just post it here.

As for the frequency and EQ's, the slowest but best way to learn is to just sit there and play with all the adjustments and hear what they can do... and stock up on a good supply of Zip disks too.

and don't let anybody tell you that you can't pop a CD out of the BR-8! I did, and the things sounds great! (www.mp3.com/merrycherry) Every song on that site (except one) was recorded with only two people using the BR-8 in a tiny bedroom studio. Good luck and keep makin the music!

Allow me to ask a stupid question, I am considering a BR-8. My CPU already has a CD burner. What is the best way to get from the BR-8 to cd?? Rock/heavy metal genre of music.

hey snowdog,i just recently bought a standalone philips cd burner.i have been mixing my finished songs straight to cd,the finished product.in order not to lose any quality and not make any more hiss or tape compression.i am not too familiar with a pc burner, but find the digital input of your pc cd burner(spdif or digital rca's)and go directly into the cd burner.i have been doing a live on ythe fly mixdown while the cd is recording.i know that most cd burners on a computer need to recognize a wav file or something of the sort,in that case, you need a sound card (stereo two track)to mix down onto ,the sound card will turn it to wave file that your computer can then recognize,i am not 100% sure .there are people on this site that are so completely knowledgable that would certainly know.and soup7373,i have been using my boss br-8 RELIGOUSLY for the last6 months or so(i got one right when they came out,so however long)but there is nothing you can't do with this charming little machine!!it is so completely unlimited.ranchfield is right.i am also putting together a few cd's,go to http:/.allwwwcet.com that's the stuff i did on the glorious br-8 with my sister,i brought mine out to denver,co. recorded her on acoustic guitar with the midi time code.when i came back to philly i started adding allthe tracks on seperately, and because it was with the time code,i could add and change the drums however i wanted ,never going out of sync.the machine is so amazing ,and i have spent so so so many hours on this thing, ask me anything ,i will at least do my best to answer you,or e-mail to:mojovoodoo@allcet.com good luck
