Will this work for midi?

All I want is a basic keyboard for doing midi stuff through Sonar. Tell me if I am wrong on the following idea:

I don't want a keyboard that has a lot of built in sounds because I want to use software to do that. I only want the electronic midi note because I am tired of using the piano role. All I do with midi is basic drum tracks to back my acoustic guitar. Maybe some other instruments but nothing major. 85% of what I do is acoustic guitar.

Yep. Should be fine, although if you are wanting to trigger soft-synths, you then need to make sure you can run Sonar with a low-enough latency to be useable.

Sounds like me (if you change "acoustic" with "electric" ;)). I have 36 key MIDI keyboard to lay down my drumtracks (but I also use 2 full scale keyboards for other stuff). :)
