Will this setup work?

Hey Guys,

Can you tell me if this setup really works:

I don't wanna spend money unless I know it works, and if it DOES work, what is a decent preamp for not too much money? Like $100-$150 for example, give or take a few bucks.

That setup will work at giving you really crappy sound.

Buy a $300 firewire interface with decent preamps, get Reaper, and you can get actually decent results.
 
Actually I went ahead and used that setup anyways and it does work pretty well. Especially for the price. Of course it isn't professional but it does get the job done. I got the PreSonus TubePre whichs seems to work pretty good.

Thanks for checking it out though I didnt think anybody was going to reply so I just went ahead and set it up.
 
Wait, what would firewire do? I mean what would it plug into?
 
burnsy, you're obviously a complete noob. no offence.
take some time to do some research into audio interfaces (ie sound cards).

recording a demo like that is equivalent to recording it onto a dictaphone, imo.

i can't imagine any work coming from the sort of quality you're going to get there.
