Will an E-Bow work on an acoustic guitar?

I have always wanted to experiment with an E-bow but I wanted to use it on an acoustic. Does anyone know if they work on an acoustic. If so to what degree? Are they really just designed for electric guitars?

They work on acoustics. Sammi is the local God of EBow around here but I've fooled with one on acoustic and electric and it'll get the strings going.

uh....

generally it will work, but not very well...

technically, the ebow doesn't work off the string...it works off the pickup...so without a magnetic pickup to hold the bow over, it's not quite the same. you can get low noise though...

an acoustic/electric now....has a shot.

If you put a soundhole pickup in the guitar it'll work.
