Anybody know what kind of keyboards are used on the Foxtrot record, or even better....sumerteeth? I'm not a keyboardest, but I like ELO, and I'm interested in :

A. Simplicty
B. strange sounds
C. orchestral voices

Sorry, never heard of them, but I'm interested so I'll bump ya.

Wilco? Weird.

wilco is great, they sound a lot like the beatles on acid. good creative music.

The Beatles sound like the Beatles on acid.

:p

If you can find a theater near you that's running it, there is a documentary called "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" which shows them doing a lot of the recording for Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. So maybe you can try to identify the keyboards by sight. The loft where they recorded looks like a music store. Some people have WAY too much equipment.

Not me though.

I know they at least use the Nord lead 2 for the more ambient sounds and a Kurzweil (K2500 or K2600) for the more traditional sounds live and in the studio.

Cheers,

Bryan

Don-- I am REALLY excited about seeing the film. I'll definitley be fixing my eyes on the gear. I'm sure it'll only play in SELECTED theaters. But I'm gonna own a copy as soon as I can track it down.

Bryan--Thanks for the knowledge.

shows everything Jay plays except for WHICH synths, but it's a starter. I ***THOUGHT*** I heard a pump organ in there, now I'm sure.

Also - not addressed whether they also used ambient sample loops, or what was played by the other keyboardist.
