I had an earlier version of cool edit which worked perfectly, however I got version 3.5 which play's music with popping sound in the mix. I have the same soundcard, amp and speakers. Anybody know what's up???

Well, since the most recent version of CoolEdit Pro is only 2.0, I think your software may just be ahead of its time. Perhaps those pops are audio artifacts created by recording in the future. ???

(but if you're talking about some other CoolEdit product like "2000" or something else, I really don't know). And please don't take my sarcasm to be mean-spirited...I'm just a very petty person.

First; where do those 'pops' come from. Zoom in to a pop and see if the curve is strange (completely vertical or so). If so, maybe you'll have to optimise your system to prevent such stuff. Tips can be found everywhere, like checking DMA on your hard drive and all.
If not, you'll have to find the problem in your recording equipment (pre-amp, mic environment etc.)

This is all assuming you've got those problems when playing back the sound you recorded yourself..

My bad Chris, I meant 2.0. Everything's working fine now. (???)
