I have 98se ME and W2K Wich is best for Cakewalk 9

Well, win2k is supposed to be the more stable platform. I would look into your hardware first and be sure there are win2k drivers available. If so, go that way. If not, well...... need I say more?

Good luck. Let us know which way you go and your success or issues you run into.

Thanks for the reply I'm running ME With TBird 800
256megs cas2 KT7A 30G Maxtor 7200 rpm but just a SBLive As soon as money permits I'm thinking Delta 44
I'm a singer guitarplayer who knows little about midi but I figure that should do me good Are any other cards worth considering for the money? I like 4 ins good for bringing in old 4 track stuff from before . Does that sound like a good plan ?

Yes that sounds like a plan. But what DS was trying to say was that you should look at some 4in/4out hardware and see if what you want has Win 2000 drivers. If the hardware you want doesn't support W2000 you would be wasting time to install it.

Personally I am using Win98SE on a PIIIEB-550 with a Gadget Labs Wave 824 card. I am using Calkwalk Pro 9 with very good results. I agree that Win2000 is a more stable system than Win98, but if you use common sense and don't load a lot of junk on it Win98 or Win ME can work just fine.

Thanks for the clarification RWhite. I was a bit unclear wasn't I. It won't happen again! I too am on 98SE (98lite as well) because my sound card has yet to have W2k drivers. wating...waiting...waiting......

For what it's worth, I'm using Cake PA 9.0 on Windows ME with a Delta 1010 card on a Dell PIII 733Mhz machine. (I use the Win 98 drivers for the soundcard with no problems.)

All in all I'm quite pleased with the set-up. It has been running since last September glitch-free and trouble-free.
