Probably best to go into a local music store and try them out in person.

If you can't do that, hmm... based on the reviews I've read on here I'd say if we were playing a cheap game show I'd tell you to go with either door number 2 or 4.

Oooooh, tell him what he has won Johnny... the StudioPro 4 Actives or the Behringer Truths. I haven't heard either of these myself (which isn't saying much anyway since I'm relatively new) but I recently read every monitor thread I could find on here and if my memory serves me correctly (which it may not) these are the best from what you've listed...

You mention a $200 price range, but all those you list are PER SPEAKER.... NOT per pair...

I suggest you save some money and get something better... there's no point going from cheap computer speakers to cheap monitors - you'll get no sonic advantage....

Look into Yorkville YSM-1P's......

perhaps save a bit more for some wharfdale actives or something with a built-in batmobile! Batmobile aside, monitors are an important investment, and are not something to skimp on.

Pretend you're a painter and you're buying glasses.
Wouldn't want to paint with blurry glasses now. Also room treatment is just as important. IF your room is full of nasty, low frequency POISON GAS (standing waves etc) you cant see the painting very well no matter how good your glasses are.

Choices 1-5 are all crappy. Save your money!! I thought I was going to get a pair of cheaper monitors, but that is what you get cheap monitors. I've listened to everything on your list yesterday and none sounded good. I really liked the event TR6's though. Anything under a 6" cone is a waste of money w/o a sub. Just my two cents.

yeah i thought those were only for a pair my bad dam tho i guess i gotta save money or sum but my parents were only gon lend me up to 200$ cus im gettin a job soon and im only 16 so it sux well ill see wat i can do thanks for everyones comments preciate it

How I mourn the lost arts of punctuation and spelling, haha.

Keep an eye on eBay and you may be able to find a reasonably priced pair of used monitors if you can't afford new ones.

I've been using the passive Event 20/20 powered by an old-school Kenwood intgrated amp for about 6 month now. Yes, they are cheap monitors, but they sound great to me. If you're on a budget, you can find these on craigslist.org, ebay, or your local used music store. They get loud and they're punchy.
