Cool Edit doesn't work fine with the Cakewake VST adapter, there's tons of VST plugins that don't appear and tons that i can't use.

N-track, hang sometimes and throw me closing errors with some plugins.

Audition 1.5, always give me wrong interfaces that don't match with the official graphic interface of the plugin. And it always close when i try to use some plug-ins.

Audacity, is the worst. :D

Well, since Steinberg invented VST technology, their applications do a very good job with VST plugins. However, if you are primarily mixing with free/cheap 3rd party plugins, you will likely never eliminate all problems. That being said, I am very happy with the performance of Cubase SE with most of the free plugins I've downloaded.

I wish i could use Cubase, but don't have to much time to spend in learning that application.

What about Sonar?
it works with VST ?

Versus the time you are spending trying to get VST's to work in what you have now?

I believe Sonar accepts DirectX, and you have to install a VST wrapper program to make it work with VST plugins. It may give you more headaches than you have right now...
