Hello. I'm thinking about starting mixing/mastering on a computer. I currently have a DAW that can write tracks in .WAV format. If I can transfer tracks to my computer this way, why would I need a PCI Audio Interface like M-Audio Delta?

Thanks.

Well, you wouldn't need a Delta since you aren't multitracking. You could just get an Audiophile. But basically you will want a better sound quality than you'll get on a Soundblaster or onboard soundcard.

Next you can get a UAD-1 too

Cool. Thanks for the info. So, I can plug my near field monitors directly into the Audiophile? Or do I need some kind of adapted?

assuming they are powered speakers,

you may need to check the connection they use. the audiophilie card takes RCA inputs, so you might need a 1/4 to RCA connector. they are cheap though

Gracias! Ok, so if I didn't want to do any recording straight to my PC, I can get the Audiophile card, which I'm assuming, will have better sound quality than the stock sound card. And, if I got that uhh.. Audiophile 192 card, it comes with a balanced 1/4" out for monitors and I wouldn't need an adaptar to connect my near field monitors? whew..
