Why not get a Fender Rhodes?

No one has mentioned my personal favorite keyboard, the Fender Rhodes.

Has anyone else noticed the massive use of the Fender Rhodes sound in all music, over the past 25 years (with a slight decrease in popularity in the 80's)? It is indispensable for great sounding jazz, instrumental, electronic, funk, prog. rock and pop. It is almost as if the quality of the Rhodes sound is one of the most important tones on alot of recordings. It also works so well with effects, and advancing recording techniques, so that the sound never gets old.

I personally have played on grammy award winning albums and I use a fully restored Mark I live, and ReasonRhodes (www.reasonrhodes.com) in the studio. ReasonRhodes is the only thing close to the real Rhodes sound and I consider the Rhodes sound to be a staple of my playing.

I just hate to hear one of my most important tools go unmentioned in a keyboard forum. Especially when the Rhodes tones in most modern keyboards (Motif, Phantom, etc.) aren't even close to that real Rhodes tone.

OK, I'll bite

First off, this has the suspicious aroma of spam, but I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt. Trends come and go. This is a predominantly 'rock' (whatever that entails) crowd, and right now it seems to be experiencing a lull, though I have noticed somewhat of a resurgence on the radio. If it's true that most emulators suck (and I'm just playing along with your theory, here), then maybe that's got something to do with it (but I don't think so). Most kids have never even heard a real Rhodes, let alone see one played live, to WANT to emulate what their favorite band is doing, which is of course what drives the popularity of an instrument. And since you have the experience, you know what lugging one of those things around is like, which is partly why you don't see them live, just like you don't see B3s live, unless they're a big act that has roadies. There's one piece of equipment I don't regret selling, just what I sold it for. If I tried to move that Suitcase 73 now, I think I'd die of a heart attack.

Now, know anybody that wants to buy a 1954 Wurlitzer electric?
