why is the timing messed up when i record direct?

Hi all
well i just got sonar 2 XL and I have my guitar inserted directly into my sound card. When i try to record however, the sound that comes back through my headphoens is like half a second later than the time i strum my guitar. what's going on? it is impossible to record this way. any suggestions?

It's called latency. Check the Help file for more info.

OPTIONS-AUDIO - move the latency slider to the left for more responsive sound. Move it to the right for more stability.

If it still sucks, get a sound card that can use either WDM or ASIO drivers or just don't use Input Monitoring.

Or just disable Input Monitoring. Deselect any drivers under Optins -> Audio -> Input Monitoring.
