Why dont my vocals show up at my other studio????

HELP. I have pro tools 8 and I record at my house and then take it to my friends and the vocals dont show up. My friend has the same pro tools 8. I bring my hard drive with the session with the audio files and they dont show up. HELP ME PLEASE THANK YOU.

Need more info.

Is the track there or not?

Are the regions showing, but blank?

Does protools tell you that files are missing and ask you to find them?

Are there other tracks that do show up or are these 'vocal only' sessions?

Do other settings transfer ok, like plugins and volume automation?

Are the audio files that your looking for shown in the regions list at the right side of the edit window?

Got to provide us with the details of your rig too and any thing else unusual

Do you keep the folder intact the way it was when you created the session?

IE, don't change the hierarchy of the folders/files. Take the one folder with everything else inside it and leave it just like that. Shouldn't have a problem.

*EDIT: 2,000 posts, Steeny!!

I have pro tools 8 and the 002 rack. The other studio has PT8 as well but uses the M-Box. My regions are showing and the tracks are in the session but the tracks are blank. When the session is loading pro tools then tells me that the tracks are missing and asks if I want to manually look for them or if it should try to find them and relink them. The other tracks that show up are just instrument tracks. I have recently upgraded to this pro tools 8 from 6.7 about 2 months ago. My old sessions do from 6.7 show up fine when I take it to the other studio. I assume that it may have something to do with that. The audio files are not in the right side of the regions list. I just record raw vocals and usually add the Plug-ins at the other studio. Thank you so very much for your help.

What's happened is, you've saved to /drive/folder1/folder2/song
and you've moved it to /drive/folder3/folder4/song
Pro tools is looking in the wrong place for your audio.

Ok, so protools says " would you like me to find these for you automatically "

Did you click yes? It can take a while. Monitor the progress in window ->task manager.

If that doesn't work, tell it you want to find them yourself, and do so.

Hey austin! long time no see! how are those wbs workin out??

Nah, we don't need to know that. It's obvious your vocalist is a vampire- Playing him back through another system is the audio version of looking for his reflection in a mirror...

Try what Steen suggested. That should solve it.

They're working great! I just used them for an EP for a folk group!

I think I noticed back when I was building them that they seemed to be phase-reversed. So I just stick a trim on each track and flip the phase, but not a big deal! Might take them apart again sometime and try to fix that.

LOL..amazing dude.. I did the same thing on that pair i racked for a friend.

I used mine recently for voice work with sm7b. Gave a greeeat sound.

Any other projects on the go?
