Why does this happen?

ok, this is somewhat similiar to my older post.. when i am recording, it seems like my computer can't handle 8 tracks with fx. but when i was looking for raw tracks to mix, i had imported about 15 tracks and it ran fine and i was able to export it without clipping.. why does this happen?

How many FX on a track are we talking here?

A small tip, if you are using the same plug in on multiple tracks, create a single AUX track.

About 2 fx. And i have 4 tracks using the same fx

It could be that the tracks the person gave you to mix were at a much lower quality than the ones you record yourself. They might've compressed them more so they could send them to you and your computer was able to process them easier.

Hmm got it. Because I'm thinking about purchasing 8 input audio interface for drums, but if my computer can barely handle that, idk what to do

I've always found that FX degrade performance faster than anything else in Reaper. Raw audio doesn't require a lot of processing to play back, so you can have a lot of tracks without FX before you see any performance hit.

Are you tracking with the FX on then? Why not just apply them later?

what are your computer specs? i'm running a weak ass 1.8 dual core, 2 gb of ram, single hard drive. i've mixed projects of 24+ tracks, with effects on every track and the master. source audio of 24 bit 44.1
