I've been to every music store within 30 miles and I can't find one single all black pickguard. Everybody has them in an assortment of strange and bazar colors like green pearl or tiger stripes, but nobody has a black one.

Maybe I'll just paint my white one.

I did that on my old white on white Strat copy. it looked cool until the paint started coming off.

The coolest Strat 'guard I ever saw was one that was made from polished bell brass.

i have a black pickguard on my strat....with black knobs and pickup covers. i bought mine at a local music store but i did a net search a few weeks ago for "pickguard" and there are a few websites that specialize in strat pickguards.

Finding one online isn't a problem, but sometimes the holes don't line up the way they should. There have been so many differant strats over the years, I'd prefer to hold the new pickguard next to my guitar to be sure everything will fit.

I know a shop over here with a black pickguard. But I'm in Belgium, and you in ..Erhm.. Texas:)

Firebird,
Try Stewmac, they used to have pickguards to suit different models and the material if you want to make your own.

Buy a piece of laminex from a kitchen making place, they might give you an off cut for nothing.
Shape the edges at 45 degrees,it'll look better than a bought one.

Bird, why don't you get and undrilled one from Stewmac and just drill and countersink the holes yourself?

Thanks for all the replys everybody.

I've got one more place to check today and if they don't have it I'll just go with a white one. Maybe I'll paint a dragon on it or something, afterall I am an artist.

I bought a new set of Texas special pick-ups and instead of taking everything apart, I'm just going to wire up a new pickguard with all new parts and drop it in. That way if I don't like the new pick-ups it'll be easy to go back.

Bloody hell ,Warmoth charge up to $40 for a plastic blank to make your on Pickgaurd.

Guitar Center is having a sale on fender pickguards this month. $20.00. Do you have a friend who lives near a GC that could pick one up and mail it to you? You should send him a template first to make sure the holes line up.

I found one!!! It was in a little music store/pawn shop. Only cost me $20.00 and it looks better than I thought it would.

i think you will really like the texas specials....i love mine

I really do! I was looking for a little more bite in my sound without really changing the overall tone which I was very happy with. The Texas specials do the trick.

I build pickguards. even custom shapes.
I can't always beat GC, and big stores when they have a sale, but most often I do.
Sometimes you have to send me a template... as same brand and model can even vary-like when epiphone changes manufacturers, there will be small differences.
I've usually got a few premades in stock.
On some things, I leave a bit of material, meaning you may have to file a bit. But that's because the one size fits all thing on different guitars doesn't really work, and most people would like, for instance, have a tighter fit
around the mounting rings, or get their neck pocket really close.
I always discuss this beforehand.

I hate to make my first post in here a sales pitch.. I'm new to this.
I have a four track tape deck, and a zoom digital ten track.. so I'll be posting more, I'm sure.
I'm just starting to record again.. so I thought I'd dig up a forum and join get some inspiration.

I have a small guitar shop in a small town where I sell parts and guitars that I either build or import.
I'm not very aggressive about it because I can't really compete with big chains and large established stores anyway, and don't have a strong local market.

Nice to meet ya.. hope you don't mind my adding this, it's just the first thread I happened on.

I use WD and All Parts guard material.
I sell for less. Quality is the same. :)
