well since i have some extra space in my rack i am searching for a cassette deck to record a line in to tape, as well as a record player. I know you can get rack casette players but can you get rack record players? I just want cheep units and i cannot find either anywhere (i've checked ebay as well as musicansfriend adn places like that) . the models on musiciansfriend are like 200 bucks american which is way out of my price range for a tape player. I would think taht ebay would have somethign but i didn't have much luch theree either.
I guess i ill check out some of the pawn shops when i get back to the city.

Something else you can do is get a shelf from Raxxess and put any deck that fits in a rack on it. They also make a trap shelf that will hold non-rackable gear in place.

Look into TEAC cassette decks, there should be a few for under $100. They're mostly 3 rack space units. As far as a rackmounted record player.... good luck. I haven't seen one. But you could rig something up as described above.

Raxxess makes a sliding tray that you could mount a turntable to, or you could also consider using a rack mount drawer.

yeah that TEAC stuff was just what i was looking for, thanks.

And thanks for the ideas on the record player. I'm somewhat surprised taht there is nothing like available. i guess not a lot of people really dig vinyl that much to create a demand.

I dont think you'll find a rack mounted turntable. It would need to be supported from both the front and back (they can be heavy), whilst rackmounted gear is only attached from the front. Turntables are loaded from the top, while rack gear is approached from the verticle face.

I can't imagine a secure or accessible rackmounted turntable. Put it atop your rack, or grab a shelf.

Well, my power amp and PC are probably a lot heavier, and somebody could have made a record player that fed like CD, but I doubt there was ever any demand . . .

I have a Tascam CD/tape rack unit which is very nice.

See if you can find a Nakamichi tape deck. They were the shit in their day and were usually reackmountable.
