ack, i almost blew out my entire brain. i finally got around to hooking them up. i set bass and treble flat, and the input level at 0 i believe. turned all the way counter clockwise. and for the love of arseholes its loud. im monitoring in vegas 2 at -20dB and its still pretty damn loud. i have the switches on my delta 1010 at +4, but its a balanced line, so that should be like that.

Another thing, i took out my SB Crap! Platinum and let the delta do windows sounds as well because it defaults to my specifications when i open vegas. im on AIM and the doorslam noise just killed me as well. i have to set the master volume really low on the delta, i guess this is ok for windows sounds, but if i remember correctly volume in the digital domain has a relation to bit depth and listening at a lower volume would be a lower resolution?

I think i will go deaf soon.

p.s.-however they do sound perdy.

You can load the .wav files that make any funky Windows noises into a .wav editor, do a volume reduction and save them over the original files. Just an idea.....
Or open up the sound controls in the control panel and mute any or all of them.
Maybe that's why I like the 20/20 passives. My amp has its own volume control which I can leave OFF or low when appropriate.

No, balanced lines should not nessecarily be at +4. Chuck the lines down to -10 and you'd get some better levels.

My Tannoy Reveal Actives are too loud too and they don't have any kind of volume control, so I now need a mixer with a volume control on the monitor outputs...

i would hope at this price that they are +4!!! also , i put them down to -10 for a while but i think it should be at +4. its not that much of a problem i just turned off the sounds for the rest of the computer basically, dont really need em.
