why Alesis folded before Newmark?

I can't understand why a great company such as Alesis
with great products can cease to exist. Does anyone
know why they folded before being bought by Newmark.
I have a feeling the Adat sales died and so did the company.
I wonder if the Alesis website still has some support for
orphaned users.
 
I think the issue was management problems. i just heard that somewhere, but when you have something good in the wrong hands......... well, you know.
 
Well too bad if the management dropped the ball. That
really sucks. I mean I could understand if the Adat just got
outdated or impractical to use. It was bound to happen anyway.
But for them guys to have caused it is just such a waste. I
always had a fondness for the quality and price of Alesis
products. I have a feeling those guys from Newmark are going
to rip us off! Hope they're nice fellows.

In response to the question it was a series of events, which led to Alesis filling for bankruptcy. These events include an aging product line, mis-management, industry slow down, tier structuring within all identities of Alesis. It seemed that Alesis Studio carried the financial weight of supporting their Semi-Conductor and Offshore Manufacturing Businesses.

Prior to the new ownership(Newmark), Alesis' philosiphy included in-house production to better control and provide quality to it's customers. All that changed with the new ownership. Everything is/has been shifted to be built offshore(China and such). Offshore in my opinion is fine for low technical products, but high technology products requires a high skill set level and support. The HDR may not be an issue since the design was nearly complete when the new ownership came in. I would caution all future designs with regards to quality!!

I just visited the website folks. And I must say it
was like a trip to cheesy cosmetics land. I second that!

They look more like your garden variety stereo to me.
Aiiiiiiiwa? Aiiiieeeeewa! Yes it's that bad. I mean who's
designing these things.

It's too early however to make a conclusion about
how the quality stacks up to the old Alesis we've
all come to know. I don't really know. We'll just
have to wait and see. Maybe the other products
are better.

It's still good to know many of the old ones are still
there! But for how long.
