I'd rather get one more Mia then buying a Delta 66. Hence, I need more i/o, both analog and digital. Anybody? Please.... :-)

Don't know about Echo, but the drivers for M-Audio's Delta series cards can support multiple cards. I'm willing to say no.

I use a Mia and love it, but it's a fools errand trying to get more I/O on the cheap. Why give yourself headaches over sychronization or drivers that will cost you more in time and aggrivation.

Get a card with more I/O.

Hosts such as cubase , Logic , etc , operated with Asio driver , cannot support two cards at the same time . This should be done at the hardware and or driver level if the manufacturer has implemented it to the product. Gina has that feature, but it can only be connected internally with another Gina or Layla and NOT a Mia card. You don’t specify if you have Gina 20 or Gina 24 bit . So if you have Gina 20 and want more I/Os selling it to get something more contemporary and expandable such as RME hamerfall DSP with multiface could be more useful than trying to expand the old Gina.
If you have newer Gina 24 that incorporates Adat optical I/Os you can easily add an external AD/DA converter with 8 I/Os from RME, Alesis , Behringer and others and have a total of 10 in and 16 outs. But external digital gadgets can add Jitter if their design or cable connection quality is not appropriate.

Thank you everybody for the feedback :-)

Tim> Good point, makes sense to me. My problem is: I'm trying to get more connectivity while kind of upgrading the sound. That's difficult to achieve on a budget. My best shot so must be the Delta 1010, or the Layla. I wouldn't ever need it's adat connectivity, but it'd probably be a better investment if I want to sell it again later.

The new Emu soundcards appear to be hot, but I won't take any risk on a new product.

Dither>thank you for the explanation. I do have an Echo Mia. Too bad one can't link two: if that was doable, then 8 channels of analog i/o and 4 of digital would fit my bill.

Any suggestions?

According to a response from Echo support, you can link two Mias together. I thought about doing it awhile ago.

You link them via SPDIF, and set one for input clock as SPDIF, not internal in the control panel.

It'd be worth seeing if you can find a used Mia on Ebay to see if it'd work.

the converters are great on the card, I think.

Hi Polaris

thank you for tuning in. Allright, I guess I oughta drop Echo a mail about this.

When I bought the Mia I was tempted to get an Audiophile instead; I ended shelling out the extra cash for the Echo because of the converters. That's what makes a full upgrade (I/O's and SNR) a challengin' chase.

If going 6-700$ wasn't a problem I think I'd get a Lynx Two or the RME Multiface+PCI combo.

As I wrote I've been looking at the RME HDSP9632, scalable via ADAT, S/pdif, AES (optional), separate headphone control, well, let's see if I can save up to it.

I use 2 echo Layla 20s hooked together with Nuendo with no problems.
