Bring Back Transfat!
I saw ZZ Top a couple years back and wondered if Gibbons had a third leg to stomp all his boxes.

Who else comes off stage with pedal stompin' charlie horse?

According to his guitar tech Yngvie Malmsteen breaks his peddels often due to excessive pressure durring a performance. Some times that is due to people thinking that things will work better if the button is pressed harder.

I saw Yngwie live...he doesn't change his tones that often and all he plays is harmonic minor at lightning speed. No offence...but I find him extremely boring.

I agree with EJ
He has that pylwood pedal board with TWO of everything,TS9,Big Muff etc.And last time I saw him, he was running two Deluxes and two Plexis as well.
Tom

It's...me...

I'm not a great guitar player...in fact...I don't think I can call me an "average" one...

But when it come to press pedals...Man you should see me...I never liked multi FX pedalboards, so I had all single pedals... For my fifth year in my band I was using 13 different pedals! (I was the only guitar in the band back then).

I changed distortions almost from note to note...

1. Jim Dunlop Cry Baby
2. Ibanez Tubescreamer
3. Marshall Drivemaster
4. Vintage Overdrive
5. Pick Boy Super Metal
6. DOD Trash Master
7. Boss Heavy Metal
8. Boss Distortion DS-1
9. Pick Boy Compressor
10. Pick Boy Octave
11. Ibanez Flanger
12. Boss Delay
13. Boss Super Phaser

and Marshall's line selector...

If you saw me on stage, you could think I was dancing Tap instead of playing guitar...my leg muscles got so strong...lol

Oh! I see...you were talking about FAMOUS OR REAL GUITAR PLAYERS...ok...so then, go see Sonic Youth on stage...

I think they are the faster stompers ever (after me, of course) lol

:D

Peace...

I agree with Eric Johnson. Brilliant player - boring as all get-out to watch live.

Now, I would probably bring up Steve Vai, but he's got stage lackeys that do his pedal stomping for him, leaving him free to raom. Does that count?

Yeah it counts. So does Slash who has an array of boxes on stage, but the real action is handled by a computer geek behind the curtain.

Anybody ever see Shultz's pedal-a-thorium back in the 80's? Chorus my ass! This guy had more taped riffs than the Backstreet boys!

Robert Fripp..The guys from Rush..Huummm thats all I can think of now

Don

What's up Don? Whatta ya think of the mics so far? Are you even using them?

I tried them covering brass cymbals on an electronic drum kit, but they were too sensitive. They picked up pad strikes as well as me moving on my stool!

Uh, OK.

I think it would be a tie between EJ and Frank Marino.

Hey Rick,I've used them on a Insruction Vidio for room sound so far...They did a good job!..Also used them as over heads for drums{3 mics,L/R OH, kik} on a live to dat thing{thru a Mackie}....The room was bad and they are omnis, so they may not have been the wisest choice.. LOL..The set was nice{DW's} would have sounded much better in a nice room{the room was as dead as the inside of a pillow..LOL}..Im building my new little studio and I can tell they will come in very handy!Ya maybe some cart.pattern would be better for ya as overs with the elec.drums..One good thing is when those pad strikes come thru your OH mics the sound of the drums will cover it pretty well..The sound of the stool movin' ya gotta get a quieter seat..dam sqeekie throne..LOL..Think of it like you do with acoustic drums..Ya know how a noisey Kik pedal, loose lugs, bad hat stand will come thru..I was tracking a while back and the guy I was workin with told me a story..He was working on his album and the session before him was a famous band{very well know drummer}..So they were hanging out watchin' their trackin'..And the producer and engin. were hearin' the strangest sound all over the tracks..Soloed the drums and lo and behold it was the drummer humming and grunting as he played..He told me they had to tape his moulth shut because no matter how hard he{drummer} tried he couldn't stop humming..LOL..Funny stuff

Don

Personally I use the following sounds:

- Normal distortion
- Raised distortion (for solos)
- Clean

Not much stomping here - too busy headbanging. :)

Johnny Greenwood--He'll actually sit his guitar down and play the pedals for half a song.

Gotta agree with lazyboy. AND Jonny is definetly the master at switching between two gazillion instruments for a 4:30 minute song

Where did you come up with fastest pedal stompers? I've got 2 pedals a Boss distortion DS-1 and Danelectro Auto Wah, A song should be able to transform down to its rawest form with out pedals.

Ha ha you had a DOD pedal. I used the grunge one like 2 times & gave it away. But I do agree, Sonic Youth.

just saw Pat Metheny a few weeks ago (great show, btw) ... and was surprised at all the pedals he had on stage.

He switched sounds a lot throughout the show ... but I doubt he's the "fastest".
