might there be a way to create what essentially amounts to a mobile/semi-mobile control room?
Hi,
In principle, this seems like a really good idea. I wonder if anybody has any success with it?
Presumably, some sort of portable solution could be handy for all sorts of instances where a recording engineer needed to travel to the artist, rather than the other way around. But it could be useful to a lot of home recorders too.
Many people don’t have the luxury of a full time dedicated room for home recording. Often the space has to double as something else - like a bedroom or general hobby room. Because of this, it may simply be impractical to try and treat the complete room. Some kind of de-mountable structure that could be put up for specific occasions, such as mixing or doing vocals, might be a workable compromise solution.
I’ve been wondering about experimenting with something rather like a tent that could be erected quickly and temporarily inside my current room. It could be literally tent-like - in the manner of one of those modern self supporting domes - or perhaps just use some kind of frame to hold a combination of appropriate materials.
A sort of up-market version of the cone of silence in the old Get Smart shows.

Well, not quite....
When I Googled the words I found this article which actually mentions making “Tent Baffles” (near the end of the page) which sound very much like what I was thinking of.
Room acoustics
Anybody here tried versions of that?
