Sorry that this topic doesn't really relate to audio recording...

But, I didn't know where to get help.

Anyways, if u know the deal with animation programs, can someone please point out some entery level 3D animation softwares that I can start with. Of course the easier and the more powerful the better.

ps. I have some experiences with Director/Flash/Photoshop/Illustrator. Something similar to those would be great

Thank you

AL

I gotta know more from you.....

I'm a 3D professional, worked with games, film FX, TV, etc. and can help anytime. Just PM me if you want to talk :D

Most 3D software is a pretty large departure from Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, etc... When dealing with 3D you have much more to work with than 2D, and then you have to animate it. I do quite a bit of solid modeling stuff with SolidWorks, which is primarily a CAD program, but as far as modeling itself goes, it's all the same. Animating your models is where, IMO, it gets pretty complicated, particularly if you want your animation to look "real".

There are some more entry level 3D packages available, but they don't really compare to the higher end stuff. I've used 3D Studio MAX a bit and found it's interface to be somewhat intuitive; intuitive being a relative term. I believe EA uses 3DSM for their game development. Lightwave is something else you may want to consider. Its interface is definitely more stylized than 3DSM, without as many buttons and menus. It's not quite capable of as much as stuff like Maya or 3DSM, but it'll probably get the job done.
