Hello all,

I'm a veteran musician and soundman. Just starting out with digital recording. I am thinking of buying the Steinberg VSL 2020 input Card for my PC. The ad only talks about using it as a VSL system link, whatever that means. Now that has me wondering if it is compatible with all other hardware and software or only with Steinberg stuff.

Did I miss the point somewhere along the line? Is it in fact the same as all other Toslink/ADAT interfaces?

How about your thoughts and comment dudettes...

although ive been recording for a long time i know nothing about that card. i DO know however that people sing the praises of the rme range of sound cards. as well as the lynx for high quality recordings by pro's. but they are expensive. if you want something thats cheaper a lot of people seem happy with the staudio range of sound cards.

Hello Gordon, welcome. Sorry about all the adolescent feedback. I do not have any experience with the Steinberg but I'll see what I can find out.

.... I was going to come back with some adolescent feedback too until I saw that you had already gotten more than your fair share. I don't think I would use the phrase 'knows their shit' anymore.

Okay, I'm back. Found a lot of, pardon me, shit.

Apparently while the VSL2020 can be used as a stand-alone sound card providing unbalanced I/O, S/PDIF I/O, MIDI I/O, and ADAT I/O and A/D conversion up to 96Khz, it was intended to do much more. In addition to serving as a component in a VST System Link System, it appears to be optimized to support use of Steinbergs V-Instrument plugins.

Go to Smart and Final
Find Gourmet Cookie Dough in freezer section
Buy it
Take it home
Turn on the oven to 350
Break dough along precut scoring lines
Place on cookie sheet. Not too close to each other or the edge!
Bake it. Stop before it burns.
Cool
Eat

Do not add shit.
 
The Best Peanut Butter Cookies in the World:

take 1 cup sugar
add one egg, cream together

add 1 cup peanut butter
mix thoroughly

add 1/2 cup chocolate chips....


seriously, that is it.

Make into little balls (haha I said balls) on a cookie sheet, flatten with fork,

bake for 8-12 minutes at 325
 
What mic would you use to record the sound of the cookies baking?

Would the AT3060 make my Tollhouse taste like mrs. Fields?

And more importantly, isn't there some kind of cookie modeler out there to simulate the flavor of all these cookies? I wanna make a nutterbutter taste like coconut creme.... any advice is much appreciated.

Regarding shit:
  • If it floats, you eat a diet too high in fat.
  • Baby shit should be light brown, not dark. Dark brown indicates a diet too high in sugar.
  • Save your plastic grocery sacks to pick up dog shit when walking your retriever.
  • If your shit is reddish in color or has a metallic smell, see a doctor immediately.
