Hi!

I'm no good with Ableton and I wanna make the sound of the keys in this song (I cant paste URLs so I describe the precise title in YouTube:

Wye Oak - Civilian (Live on KEXP)

Can someone explain to me how I have to produce this instrument sound in Ableton?

Thank you so much!!

Chances are someone would say that you need to get 10 posts then give everyone a link.

Besides, you aren't going to be able to create that in Ableton per se. You will probably need a dedicated 3rd party VST instrument or hardware synth, preferably those that have granular synthesis or powerful sound sculpting functionality. Also the Voxengo Curve EQ has EQ matching capabilities which would prove a helpful weapon in your arsenal.

I'm not sure if I picked the right video, but I'm pretty sure you're looking for a Hammond organ sound. Google GSi VB3. (I'm too new here to post hyperlinks) I'm sure there are also other options, but I personally use this one and I think it sounds pretty fantastic.

Your not going to be able to create that in Ableton without the right plug in. But that isn't true either. Ableton has Sampler which, if you can get a clean note(s) from the sample, you can map it to the Keys and use it as a MIDI instrument. So, you actually can, but the VSTi link provided may be a better option.

Most definitely. The scenario you described is usually impractical though because the instrument would likely be polyphonic or buried in a mix with commercial music.

No, I still haven't clicked the vid link.
