Hey guys,

We rented a space to record our next album. We have most of the gear we need. I just have a few questions about cabling. Right now we need an XLR snake to run from the Mic Pres in the control room to the mics in the performance room. I've been looking around trying to find the best one but they all seem to be for "live sound" applications.

Can someone point me in the direction of a good snake for recording? We are looking for an 8 or 12 channel version. I know cabling is often the weakest link in any recording chain. I don't want that to be the case with us.

What do you guys think?

thanks,

Don't worry about it. Any decent snake will work. Unless you're in an extremely high RF environment I wouldn't woory about exotic wire. If you feel you just need the best and can afford it, Mogami Starquad would do. I built all my own snakes from Beldon wire and it's dead quiet.

Very cool. That's kind of what I thought, but I reallyu don't want to have all this nice gear and spend tons of time on mic placement and room treatment and then skimp on something as simple as proper cabling.

Thanks for the calbe tip. I'm on Belden's site right now. Very cool. Do you make your own cables from their wire?
