Which Wah?

I'm really rather disappointed with my crybaby (gcb-95) and I want to get a new wah. I'm bored of the classic crybaby sound, so I'm not looking for another crybaby, as much as I like Dunlop stuff. The sound I'm looking for is on the Weezer song "Beverly Hills" during the solo. Very horn like, and unique. Any ideas?

I dont have my cd's with me right now, but I thought Rivers Cuomo was using a talk box on that lead. Now that I think about it, there may be two parts, one with wah, and the other with him on the talk box.

thats what I was afraid of... damn.

I know you want that sound, and I don't know how to get it, but if you really want a new wah I suggest the Vox or the Dunlop q? (the one with 5 different selectable wahs...). I don't like the Crybaby, but i like the versatility of that particular wah...

River's solo is a talkbox. I've seen it live and on TV, and he always steps up to the mic with the hose coming up to it. I'm not sure if you can get that with any wah.

I don't know what that particular solo sounds like, but if you want to try something different from the crybaby, you might want to try a Snarling Dog wah. I've been using the Snarling Dog Super-Bawl Whine-O for a while and it's been really versatile. The thing I like most about it (which may be something others don't like) is that the pedal has a really wide sweep range...almost as wide as, say, an Ernie Ball volume pedal. It always bugged me on crybabies how just the tiniest movement of your foot resulted in a drastic change to the sound. The wide sweep gives more precise control of what's going on.

Yeah, as others have said on here, that's a talkbox on "Beverly Hills". I've only had a Crybaby, but it suits me just fine. Just go try some out. And didn't someone make a talkbox simulator (I think it was DigiTech)? Not sure how they sound, but maybe worth trying.

Not really familiar with that song, but you could put a distortion in front of the Crybaby and a Parametric EQ behind it, and it will change the sound of the Crybaby completely. Could try this idea for when you are fed up with the straight Crybaby sound.

Could even get what some of the other guys suggested and try this idea out a bit later. In case you do not have a parametric EQ, a Graphic would do the job a well, just would act a bit different but it would change the overall sound of the Wah, and that is what you are after eh?

maybe this is too obvious

but if he wants the sound of a talkbox, maybe he should get a talkbox?

While we're on the subject, does anyone know of a wah that has a pedal travel somewhere in between that of a Dunlop (too short) and a Morley (too long) ?

What I want to know is, at exactly what point did I cross over from looking like a younger Lindsay Buckingham to looking like an older Mick Fleetwood?
?

About half a century after you stopped looking like a young Stevie Nicks?

Well, the hair was similar, but she had better tits. Still does, thank god. At least I don't have man-boobs yet.
